What belly dance style do you teach?
Egyptian.
What to wear/bring to in class?
Wear clothes that you can move around in easily, with either bare feet or flexible soled dance shoes, ballet shoes is fine. Leggings are better than a skirt for class-wear because it helps me see what your legs are doing. You also may wear a crop top as it makes easier to see waist movements. You can bring a hipscarf (optional) to tie around your waist – this accentuate the movements and act as a learning aid. Some people like to buy a hipscarf decorated with “coins” after a few lessons, as these are fun to wear and are useful for helping you “hear” the moves you make. Also please bring a bottle of water and lots of energy!
Health issues and pregnancy
If you have any health issues and/or if you are pregnant please consult your GP before attending belly dance classes.
What is the minimum age to join the class?
Minimum age to join the class is 16 and older.
I am too fat/skinny/old/uncoordinated. Can I join the class?
Women from different ages, shapes, races, backgrounds, cultures, religions, nationalities, skin colours, etc are very welcome and strongly encouraged to join the classes!
Class – arriving late
Please avoid to arrive late as you will miss the warm up which is important to prevent injuries.
Can men join your classes?
I’m sorry classes are for ladies only.
How long does it take to learn to belly dance?
People have different learning curves. Some people will learn faster than others. Some people will practice more than others. Some people will be taking belly dance classes for 6 years but practice one hour a week. Some people will be taking belly dance classes for 3 years but will be practicing 10 hours a week. Some people will have experience in other dance forms. Some people will have never tried any kind of dance before. You will not be a belly dancerafter just 6 weeks training. Our classes are only organised in slots of 6 weeks so that I can offer you a discount.
Can I come on drop in basis?
Drop in is available only on the first week of the course for new students so they can come and try the classes before booking the course. Drop in is subject to availability as it works on first come first served basis.
I’m unable to attend 2 or more classes of the session, will I miss too much?
If you have joined the course but will not be able to attend to all the classes, please bear in mind that classes build up week by week and if you miss 2 or more classes it will probably be harder for you to keep up with the pace so it is your responsibility to catch up. I always advise people, especially in the beginners class that they should join the session from the beginning and miss no more than one class.
How can I pay for the classes?
You can book online (strongly recommended). Cash, cheque and credit card (admin fee applies) payments are also available.
Do you offer any discounts for classes eg students?
I’m sorry I’m unable to offer discounts for classes at this time.
Can I pay for the whole session on the first lesson instead of paying online?
You can come and pay for the whole session on the first lesson unless the class is stated as sold out on the class booking page.
Do I have to be a member of the gym/club to join the belly dance classes?
No gym/club membership are required to join the belly dance classes.
Do I need to have a Paypal account to book the classes online?
No, you don’t need a Paypal account to book online for the classes. When you proceed to the check out, it will come up the Paypal payment page (login page). There will be the question “Don’t have a Paypal account?” then you click on continue and insert your payment details.
I missed a class can I make it up or get a refund?
I’m sorry but I do not offer refunds nor make up classes options at this time. Classes are non transferrable and non refundable.
I enrolled for a whole session but I’ve just found out I’m unable to attend. Can I get a refund?
Courses are non refundable and non transferrable under any circunstances.
Can I reserve my place by placing my name on the list prior to the payment?
I’m unable to reserve places for the classes prior to the payment. The reason is that I used to do this in the past and people just didn’t turn up and I had to turn other students away because the list was full.
Sometimes the class is full, sometimes it is not so I can’t say for sure what is going to happen. It might happen the class is full on the day as it happened previously and I unfortunately had to turn people away. I want everybody to enjoy the class and to achieve that it is necessary to avoid overcrowding.
If you want to guarantee your place please book online as it is safe and it saves time or make the payment in person in the last week of the previous session.
