1- Rehearse the choreography until you are happy with it
Completely detach from the surroundings and focus on the dance. Rehearse several times, until you are happy with the mechanics of the choreography and you aren’t worrying about it anymore.
2- Work on the feeling and facial expressions
This is the breakthrough moment, the time to let go and put your personality into the choreography.
3- Mental Rehearsal
Whilst you are listening to the song, rehearse in your mind all the choreography, all the steps, feelings and moves. Try to predict what is next. Like the conductor of an orchestra your mind will tell you what comes next within fractions of seconds just before you perform your next move.
4- Mental Preparation
Imagine you are performing in front of a big crowd. Imagine your makeup, your hair, your jewellery, your costume. Imagine the place, the stage the audience. Create a positive and strong frame of mind.
5- Dress Rehearsal
Rehearse your performance (using tip 4) with your costume as it may add extra weight and friction to your dance.
